WE ARE HERE TO HELP
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
- Absolutely, YES! Our ultrasound equipment allows you to disrupt and neutralize the toxic growth of algae by sending ultrasonic waves through the water—a process that leaves fish and other life unharmed but prevents algae and biofilm from reducing the quality and safety of your water environments.
- View our Algae Classification Chart to see a partial list of algae affected by Hydro Bioscience patented ultrasonic systems.
- The waste algae becomes less buoyant and sinks to the bottom of the body of water. In aquifers, lakes, ponds, and other bodies of water, the waste algae gets eaten and reabsorbed by the local wildlife or naturally occurring good bacteria. In swimming pools, aquifers, and other water retention systems, the filtration systems remove the remnants.
- Cavitation is a phenomenon in which rapid changes in water pressure result in the formation of small vapor-filled “voids.” When again subjected to higher pressure, these voids collapse and generate shock waves capable of producing undesirable damage.
- If algae is growing near a cavitation void, the resulting shockwave damages the outer cell wall of the algae, releasing all of the toxins into the water. This can lead to massive fish kills and the destruction of the water ecology.
- No. They are quite easy to install. Water based solar powered systems simply need to be placed in the water, anchored, and turned on. Land based/powered systems may take 30 minutes to an hour to install.
- While one Quattro-DB® unit will cover up to 120 surface area acres, line of sight, our team of experts are here to help analyze your water area and come up with the best possible application. Contact us at post@aqua-360.com to speak to our team today.
- As the effective area of the ultrasound starts working about 6″-12″ AWAY from the unit itself, it is advisable to clean the transducer head about once a month. We do have optional coatings and UV protection available for customers in areas of particularly high algae and biofouling content but most applications will not need this.
- We can make cables of almost any length you need, up to 300 meters. Most applications we see call for lengths of 150 meters or less. Regardless, we can configure the system to your needs.
- NO. They are very inexpensive to operate. Solar powered systems do not require any additional power other than what is generated by the sun. AC systems cost as little as $11 per unit/year to operate depending on power costs in your area.
- Ultrasound causes the inner cell wall of green algae and diatoms to vibrate. Once critical structural resonance is attained at the correct frequency, the inner cell membrane tears, causing the cell to lose pressure control and the capacity to transport fluid within the cell.
- Unlike green algae and diatoms, blue-green algae are completely different organisms. They employ gas vacuoles for traveling up and down the water column. The sound ruptures those vacuoles, causing the gas to move to the outside cell wall and slowly leak out, similar to an inflatable gently losing air over time. The cells lack the ability to return to the surface to obtain sunlight for photosynthesis, once enough gas escapes, and as a result dies.
- Biofilm is made up of bacteria that form colonies on equipment surfaces. Our technology supports 2,000+ frequencies across multiple bandwidths. Our technologies simulate water turbulence by alternating those frequencies. Anaerobic bacteria cannot colonize turbulent water and hence enter stasis.
